The Enemy Tactic of Distraction

For those of who are naturally driven, distraction is an enemy tactic that is often missed. It’s camouflaged as diligence. Distractions shift your focus from what is important.  Work is important but it is not your Lord.

When you are distracted, it takes your eyes off of God. Your focus shifts to your emotions, to other people, and to your circumstances.

Most importantly, it takes your eyes off of you mental, emotional, and spiritual health and the purpose that God has designed for you.

We are often distracted by what we don’t know. As Pastor Mike Todd says, “We are distracted by the details.”  When we don’t know all of the details in a situation, then we pause, or even stop on the directions that God has given us.

How often has the enemy used your delay as a distraction to keep you from walking in your purpose?  One way to identify the enemy’s tactics is to look at what is contrary to God’s Word. Then enemy will often use the things given by God and pervert them.

The reality is that God wants you to trust Him in delays.  While it feels like it is unnecessary, God has a plan for development to occur during these times. Much like the Israelites forty year journey through the desert, God must refine who you are, so that you are prepared to move into a new season.
